Cabinet Maker Apprenticeship

Kitchen & Renovation Concepts will be offering an apprenticeship in Cabinet making (Kitchen & Bathrooms) to start in early January or sooner, depending on individual circumstances. This course leads to a nationally recognised Certificate III qualification and usually takes 3 years to complete.

This apprenticeship would suit a young person with a passion to learn and develop the skills associated with building and installing all the elements of kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes and commercial joinery. The role involves being trained in the use of the tools and equipment used by a cabinet maker and learning about the design and use of materials used in these applications. As the business has modern up to date machinery such as CNCs and edgebanders, an apprentice working with Kitchen & Renovation Concepts will receive training that is current and interesting.

During the apprenticeship, the apprentice will gain a wide range of specialised and technical knowledge and skills relating to the building industry as well as to the joinery industry. As the company undertakes varied projects ranging from small residential jobs to large commercial projects, the apprentice will gain a good understanding of the many facets of the building industry as a whole.

Initially, the apprentice will be based in our factory in Dubbo but as skill levels progress, you will go out on-site to assist and learn from our experienced tradesmen as they install the joinery. To do this, you will need to obtain a Construction White Card.

As an apprentice, you will be part of a team but you will also have to use your own initiative so a strong problem-solving ability and a keen attention to detail, as well as good organizational skills, are needed. Plan interpretation will be an important part of the role to be learned and good maths skills are an advantage for this.

This type of employment has the potential to be an exciting and well-paid career after completion of the apprenticeship. This qualification enables you to obtain a Contractor Licence as well as a Qualified Supervisor licence through Fair Trading. Also, as your experience in the joinery industry grows, you may even have the opportunity to progress to a Joinery Project Management position.
